Gabar Goshwak in spectacular Inter-specific species competition with a Little Sparrowhawk. Great Plains Conservation, January 2017. During annual Guide mentoring, we came around the corner to witness the sparrowhawk on its own kill of a small seed-eater which was suddenly attacked by the larger Gabar. The Gabar managed to overpower the Little Sparrowhawk to make away with its prized kill. Spectacular.

Looking back at the last year and a half, my mind often drifts back into those blissful days while immersed in the Worlds largest and most pristine wetland wilderness, the Okavango Delta and its surrounds of Northern Botswana. Now listed as the world’s 1000th World Heritage Site, I feel humbled to have spent 20 years exploring this most precious jewel and I very much look forward to the years ahead and my explorations, where ever they take us into the wilderness areas of Africa and the World.
I have been fortunate to have spent this time with the most wonderful down to earth guests and passionate nature and safari lovers – some of them being “safari junkies” just like me.
Journeys with Nature Guiding Company and some renowned operators and travel agents such as Wilderness Safaris, Safari Footprints, RAW Botswana to name a few, have taken me to some of the most prestigious of safari camps in premier wildlife viewing areas as well to the most quint essential classic safari camps in the most remote areas of northern Botswana.
From game drives, canoes, power boats, helicopter flights, walking trails, horseback safaris to real and true wilderness camping wild wilderness trails and sundowner cruises. Botswana certainly does have a unique blend of safari styles that satisfy the palates of the World.
Besides the breathtaking beauty and vastness of landscape, within this, our guests and I have witnessed some phenomenal moments with wildlife encounters. Either by skillful tracking and following the signs of nature to locate, sheer perseverance to explore the vast areas, or by simply being in the right place at the right time.
